Kerveli, Samos Greece- Much like my experiences in Canadian waters, the ocean surrounding Samos, Greece faces
many environmental issues. Over the course of the summer season beginning in May 2023, I documented what I saw exploring these waters. During my time here I learned these waters are extremely overfished, and due to such overfishing many of the native species have become fearful of human interaction (Spearfishing is a national sport in Greece). Waters once full of a variety of ecology have been minimized, many of the larger species have sought out other waters as there is not much for them to consume. Despite the damaged ecosystem, I was still able to see many incredible sites, reefs caves in large schools of fish are among my favourites.
